You quoted a verse which tells you how to have eternal life, but that does not assure me that you understand what it is saying in the light of so many who argue over what it does say.

So what is your take on what Jn 3:16 says keeping in mind that 'Whoever believes' is literally a nominative participle, should not perish is aorist = completed action and should have eternal life is present tense, and the subjunctive mood: should is present and depends solely on the capacity of God to carry through His promise.
