Who thinks that oil prices will ever return to below $2 a gallon? Think again
--when we have an emerging economy like China with trillions of dollars sitting
in vaults --waiting to spend. China is rapidly making alliances in the Middle
East and in South America to access oil the US and Europe has been dependent on.
China's craving for oil to drive its industrial boom and, to a lesser extent,
satisfy its love affair with the motorcar, has helped to push up global crude
oil prices.
In 2003, China raced past Japan to become the world's second biggest consumer of
petroleum products after the US.
In 2004, its thirst grew by 15%, while its output only rose 2%.
How did China get so rich? Remember the beanie babies? They did not then and do
not now play by the copyright rules, that's how. Chinese Governments have
allowed Chinese merchants to copy, clone, and resell any product or publication
in the world. The Chinese never worried about research and development. They
stole everything then, and they continue to do it--while Chinese Governments
make token raids.
The beauty of beanie babies was that Ty was going to make just so many and then
retire an individual beanie baby. After he retired one the demand was to rise.
What killed that whole idea was that Chinese merchants copied these without
permission and began flooding the US with illegal copies of these retired and
active beanie babies. EBay and customs seemed to care less about this illegal
activity. They allowed it to continue. EBay even made a lot of money from this
illegal selling activity via advertisement fees.
The Chinese have also been copying and reselling any and all popular music and
movies for decades. And it doesn't stop there. China has illegally copied and
reproduced everything from beanie babies to satellites.
So, not only has China outright stolen our products; with the help of the US
Custom Service, US Postal Service, and apathy of the US Government --they have
copied and resold these illegal products to us for decades.
