Yes a 1000 years, and yes the sun will be darkened, and the moon will turn to blood. The earth will not be destroyed as in if a bomb exploded in the core and earth shattered into a million pieces, that is not the point. The earth will be burned up though by fire, like when you see a farmer burning his land to restore it for the next generation of life. The point is that it is burned up because man has transgressed God's commandment's, statues etc. This is not my doctrine it is the word of God. So if man would of just kept what God told them to keep the earth would not need to be destroyed, right?
Also look at chapter 56 of Isaiah and look at the title of it, if your Bible has it, titles to chapters. It describes what a gentile must do if they worship the God of the Hebrew's, which Jew's and Christians profess to do. One must re-read the new covenant to understand it was made with the house of Israel and the House of Judah. I ask people are they of the 12 tribes, or are they a gentile, which can be called an alien, foreigner or sometimes others in the Bible, all mean the same. After reading this chapter in a protestant Bible go to the fourth commandment, the word God uses, to prophetically let his followers know in advance of what to do, is the word REMEMBER, God warned man of what Satan would do to get man to break his commandments. One can see that sin is transgression of the law. One can also see that sin leads to death. This is how Satan deceives mankind, through getting him to transgress the law, his commandments. Seek Truth
